Environmental Issues: Going extinct or extant?

If we are to list all the environmental issues affecting our planet, the list would be endless. This is for the fact that they seem to double with each new day, and we are constantly addressing them with little success. Apparently, environmental degradation is on the increase partly because of human error or natural factors. As such, the natural factors are in a way triggered by the same human errors. Environmentalists and scholars in this field are pointing a figure to increased technology and intense industrialization. We are almost certain the human population will dip with striking figures or even worse, go extinct.

The most commonly known environmental monster is global warming. It is one of the environmental issues that results to climatic change. The imbalance it causes may cause fatal results to human beings. For one thing, the human activities are hugely responsible for the increase in the greenhouse gases that result to unequivocal temperatures. The fossil fuels burnt off in most manufacturing factories give off these green gases, which consequently absorb harmful UV rays and limit long infrared waves from reflecting back to space. However, environmentalists have proposed and initiated certain programs that will see global warming reduce albeit with a very small percentage.

Another issue is environmental pollution; something we do in our daily lives without even thinking. Some of the activities behind pollution are a reflection of people who do not see into the future in a sense that they fail to understand the long-term or even fatal results they may cause. Picture this; large manufacturing factory situated next to a water body, spilling or rather draining all its industrial waste right into the water body. What will become of that lake or ocean five or a few years down the line? First, the aquatic creatures with which their habitat has been infected will go extinct. Bearing in mind that for a complete environment, there is the need for conserving flora and fauna, the future of our planet will be at stake.

Talking of environmental pollution, the air you breathe should be a major concern if not a priority to you. The source of heat or fuel you burn will determine whether or not you are keen on it. It is for the same reason that the department for environment, food and rural affairs took the initiative to ensure environmental conservation (DEFRA). For instance, the organization is encouraging many people to use defra approved stoves for cooking. The good thing about such a stove is that they give room for a lot of air thus controlling the amount of smoke that is emitted.

Wise use of energy or using energy-saving appliances is another way of conserving the environment. If we are to use wood as a source of fuel, there are several ways we can do that but at the same time keep our environment safe. The defra approved stoves come in an assortment of sizes and pocket friendly prices. Go ahead, get one for boiling water, burning wood fuel and heating up your house.
